Q Hall of Fame Canada is gaining momentum
2012 sees a national tour, bids coming in for 2013 Q Ball, and the next phase of this national recognition program.

BriefingWire.com, 4/18/2012 - This tour marks the next phase in the Hall of Fame’s effort to bring together Canada’s LGBTQ community and engage them in their history. Starting on April 20, 2012 in Calgary, Alberta the tour touches in cities like Vancouver, Winnipeg, Regina, London, Hamilton, and Toronto.

“It is about getting the word out so that people understand that this is truly about them, their community and honouring their own hero’s.” Said Paul Therien, Chair of the Hall of Fame, “If we do not document our history in a way that is accessible, then we lose it. What better way to do this than through preserving the memories of our pioneers and hero’s?”

Founded in 2009 by Paul Therien, the Hall of Fame is Canada's only national LGBTQ Human Rights recognition program. Inductees to the Hall of Fame are nominated by the community and vetted by a selection committee. All inductees are honoured at the biennial event, Q Ball, considered to be the pre-eminent event of the LGBTQ Community. Q Ball is the only LGBTQ Event in the country which travels across Canada to ensure that it is accessible. Having been dubbed the Oscars of Canada’s LGBT Community, and most notably “Canada’s National Pride Event” in international press it is considered to be a must attend event. In 2011 Q Ball out-sold the North American Pride Games closing ceremony for tickets, and received further raves reviews from attendees and media.

"I thought I knew what Pride was all about, I thought I understood... then I went to Q Ball and heard firsthand the stories of the inductees... Pride means more to me today that it has ever in my life." H.S

"When they say that Q Ball is Canada's National Pride Event, they were not kidding. A room full of people from across Canada, and around the world, all sharing in the Pride of our history." Outlooks

"The evening was classy from start to finish, and honestly this is, without equal, the best Pride Celebration Event I've ever been too" J.S.

Q Ball 2013 is slated to be held in Toronto, exact date yet to be confirmed. A request for proposal has been sent out to various events planners to bid on the event. No details as to who will win the bid for this auspicious event have yet been released.

“We have had a lot of interest from events companies, but as of yet we are not prepared to discuss any details.” said Therien

We recommend that you stay tuned for more information; sources have indicated that there is some heavy hitter Canadians in the nomination hopper. Paul Therien declined to comment on nominees at this time, stating that the inductees would be announced once they have been vetted by the selection committee.
