Rotary NAYEN (North American Youth Exchange Network) is committed to providing all these exceptional experiences to students by offering Rotary Youth Exchange study abroad programs and scholarships. Based on individual requirements, taste and preferences, students can choose from a short-term exchange in the summer, a full academic year of high school or a gap year.Providing an insight into Rotary Youth Exchange, one of its executives stated, “Rotary Youth Exchange is an exchange program designed for students between15 and 19 years of age. Sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 countries, it transforms students choosing this exchange program into global students. Enabling students to unlock their true potential, it allows them to develop lifelong leadership skills and build lasting friendships with young people from across the globe. The exchanges are of two types – long-term exchanges and short-term exchanges.”
The long-term Rotary Youth Exchange programs last a full academic year wherein students attend local schools and live with multiple host families.School fees, room and board are provided to students for free while they are supposed to pay for the travel insurance, round-trip airfare, travel documents (passports and visas) and spending money for any additional travels and tours. Students who are between 15 and 19 age groups and are leaders in their schools and communities can apply for this program. They can contact their local Rotary Club to see what exchange opportunities are available and what the application process involves.
Talking about the Study Abroad Scholarship program, the executive added, “This program is tailor-made for students who wish to study abroad as foreign exchange students. It includes hosting by a foreign Rotary Club, primary tuition and placement in a school approved by the foreign Rotary Club, homestay accommodation, including meals with the host family, a monthly stipend from the host Rotary Club and airport transfers on arrival and departure. Some other inclusions are 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance throughout the program, secondary travel and medical insurance, accident, ill health, repatriation and third-party liability, and pre-departure and some in-country orientations.”
Rotary Youth Exchange has emerged as one of the most trusted and popular foreign exchange student programs. Its ‘High Year Abroad’ program is a Long-Term Exchange Program (LTEP) that requires students to attend high school while on the exchange program. Eligible students who have just graduated from high school and are going on the exchange as a part of this program still have to attend high school full-time in their assigned foreign country.
