Lasting a full academic year, the long-term Rotary Youth Exchange programs make students attend local schools and live with multiple host families. Short-term exchanges, on the other hand, are often structured as homestays, camps, or tours taking place when school is not in session. They last from several days to three months and students are allowed to tailor the exchange to match their interests or to include tours of specific places or regions. Students who are between 15 and 19 years and are leaders in their schools and communities can apply for this program. The spokesperson added, “The Study Abroad Scholarship program we offer is tailor-made for students who wish to study abroad as foreign exchange students. It includes hosting by a foreign Rotary Club, homestay accommodation, including meals with the host family, primary tuition and placement in a school approved by the foreign Rotary Club, a monthly stipend from host Rotary Club, and airport transfers on arrival and departure. Some other inclusions are 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance throughout the program, secondary travel and medical insurance, accident, ill health, repatriation and third-party liability, and pre-departure and some in-country orientations.”
