ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE provides for students programs managed and coordinated by trained Rotarians. These Rotarians are an association of people from different backgrounds that include professional, business, and community leaders, who provide charitable services to create peace and goodwill around the world. Since the inception of the program, almost 10,000 student exchanges per year have been conducted. More so, ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE’s long-term exchange program normally lasts one academic year and participating students will live with 2-3 families in the host country.In response to a query about their services, the spokesperson of ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE commented, “Our program is independently structured in global regions and then by autonomous multi-district associations. This means that the exchange programs are administered locally and all applicants must be sponsored by a local Rotary club and district. We also do ensure that students who are part of our program do not face any prejudice based on race, gender, religion and socioeconomic status”.
ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE provides applicants the opportunity to access the lowest-cost student exchange program. The program is completely administered by volunteer Rotary club members, which keeps the program’s expenses low. Costs also vary depending on the district and country where the exchange occurs. Students and their parents or guardians are however, expected to cover certain expenses. These include round-trip airfare, travel insurance, travel documents (passports and visas), spending money, ancillary travel and tours, language camp or cultural orientation, and emergency fund for unexpected expenses. Host families are also provided orientation and training by the local host Rotary district and club.
