ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE is a program set up by Rotary International, and it is managed and organized by well-trained Rotarian volunteers from various walks of life. These Rotarians consist of business professionals, community leaders, and many others. There are many students all over the world interested in exploring and building their knowledge in various areas, especially in aspects dealing with culture and tradition. They believe they can achieve world peace by communicating with and understanding people from different cultures around the world. Through their very affordable exchange program, they give high school students the opportunity to become global citizens, and learn about other cultures and languages.In response to a query about their youth exchange program, the spokesperson of ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE commented, “We have over 12million members in about 33,000 clubs across the globe. Our mission is to provide humanitarian services that foster compassion, kindness, and peace. We believe we can make this happen through the travel abroad programs we provide for students. We have committed Rotarians who are in charge of coordinating about 10,000 student exchanges on a yearly basis. Our community is focused on bringing people together and learning from one another. Hence, we do not discriminate against anyone based on their race, gender, identity, or religion.”
Provided for high school students on ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE are high school summer abroad programs . It is required that foreign exchange students under their Long Term Exchange Program (LTEP) attend high school while they are on exchange. This means that all participants who have also just graduated from high school and are part of the exchange program are still required to attend high school, as it is part of the cultural immersion in whatever foreign country they are assigned. This program, in particular, is a one-year program and students get to live with two or three families during their stay in their assigned country. The reason for this is to help them build and gain a better understanding of the culture and tradition around them. Students can also be sure that they are in safe hands, as their host Rotary club examines and carefully select host families.
The spokesperson added, “To be a part of our program, it is first important that you become an applicant sponsored by the local Rotary club and district Rotary club in your country or geographical location. But, you must know that every Rotary club has its own manner of selecting eligible students. Our program is an affordable scholarship program custom-made to fit into all your exchange adventure needs. You can choose to be part of our long-term programs or short-term program based on whichever you are interested in.”
At ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE, they have an eligibility standard for all students. These include: applicants must be between the age of 15-19, they must be sponsored by a local Rotary club, and complete their written application.
