Relux Collision checks each car's color against sprayed test panels in natural light, adjusts the tint until it lines up, and blends the new finish into the panels next to the repair so no hard edge shows where old paint meets new. The same attention carries through the rest of its collision repair work. Technicians look for hidden damage behind bumper covers and body panels, and they run full electronic scans before and after every job. Porsche Active Safe systems and cameras are recalibrated in-house, because even a light bump can throw off the sensors that brake the car on the driver's behalf. The shop also handles auto glass replacement, bumper repair, paint and scratch work, paint protection film, vehicle wraps, and detailing.
"A Porsche owner notices things most people never see. If the door is a shade off from the fender, they will spot it the first sunny afternoon, and so will the next buyer. We match paint by eye and by instrument, we blend it into the panels around the repair, and we do not hand the keys back until it looks right in daylight," said a spokesperson for Relux Collision.
For owners who plan to sell or trade in later, the stakes go well past looks. A buyer's inspector with a paint gauge, or even a sharp eye in a parking lot, can knock serious money off a car when one panel doesn't match the rest. Paint is also where insurance claims can get tense, since an estimate can leave out the time needed to blend neighboring panels.
