While addressing a small group of movie enthusiasts today, Millie Loredo, President of FilmsVerité Productions, described the new world of indiefilm distribution. "There is greater production of movies, and not only a greater volume but also a wider variety and level of quality, than we would ever have imagined a few years ago," she said. "And they are being launched into the market from an everincreasing number of video platforms." "And while this restructuring of the market presents greater possibilities for an indiefilm," she continued, "it also poses a challenge; that you may not be able to find your audience and run the risk of getting lost among the multitude of competing and varied content that may be appealing to the same viewers.
And let’s face it, while theatrical releases may gain recognition for your film, the real
payback for an indiefilm is from the video streaming from the increasingly many video platforms to viewers with a multitude of viewing devices. If interested, they may see your film once, and if they like it enough they may see it again, but in general they do not buy it to
keep."
She continued by pointing out that Sorrow, the initial feature film of FilmsVerité, will have its World Premier Opening at the River Oaks Theatre on April 21, but will also be available that same day for delivery online, and by DVD, by Amazon.com., and thereafter by the Hulu Network and other video platforms.
Sorrow is the story of a young woman kidnapped and tortured by serial killers, but who
escapes and ingeniously exacts her own personal vengeance. Ms. Loredo also noted that Sorrow is available for Preorder on Amazon Prime.
