BriefingWire.com, 12/06/2019 - The Africa Institute is a people and vision-driven institute that was purposefully established with the goal of focusing on African and Arab relations, which has for ages been an area of great scholarly interests. The idea for the conception of the interdisciplinary academic research institute is traced back to the year 1976 when the first symposium on African and Arab relations was hosted in Sharjah. It was then agreed upon by the 45 African and Arab thinkers in attendance for the establishment of an institute for this line of study. The formation of The Africa Institute has, in turn, been an actualization of a dream that had, for decades, been greatly desired.

Speaking about how the institute is on the path to excellence, the company’s spokesperson commented, “For long, a major paradox has existed when it comes to evaluations of the historical and contemporary relationships between Africans and Arabs. The formation of The Africa Institute provides a platform whereby scholars and other interested parties can play a role in uncovering these grey areas. Luckily for us, lots of ideas, suggestions, and scholarly works are currently available, offering a basis for current and future studies.

One of the primary roles of The Africa Institute is to teach about Africa and its diaspora at postgraduate levels in the humanities and social sciences. Scholars who have always had an interest in this area of study can now have all the details about these courses through htttp://Theafricainstitute.Org/About.Php. The aim of these programs is to bring up a new generation of critical thinkers who will play a major role in advancing African studies.

Talking about ways in which they are reaching out to the general public, the company’s spokesperson said, “We are keen on promoting knowledge about Africa and its relations to everyone with interest in these areas and not just scholars. To achieve this, we have made it a policy to continuously host scholarly, cultural, and artistic activities within the institute. Most of these events are open to the general public, who will have a rare opportunity to see what scholars have uncovered presented to them. These presentations will be in thrilling forms, including conferences, films, stages performances, musicals, poetry, and art exhibitions.”

Typical to its policy of hosting events, The Africa Institute organized the Global Africa conference in March with the aim of discussing African and African Diaspora studies. This three-day conference attracted lots of participants, and it was a solid foundation that is expected to influence future scholarly perspectives. Nonetheless, besides the exciting areas that the participants and main speakers got to discuss during this conference, its main highlight was that the Africa Institute hosted it in the newly re-built African Hall.
