Unfortunately, in the days of 24/7 news reporting where actual news items do not increase any more than what they did before 24/7 news - there is far more demand to elongate items to keep the reader interested. It does however have an inclination be a bit more creative too. This often takes the form of introducing a number of specialists, experts, consultants etc to add to the content coming from different perspectives. This was in the early days helpful to the reader, or viewer if on TV, to understand the subject matter being discussed.
Familiarity does breed contempt, as does the steady political bias get stronger too and the narrative takes on a more one-sided slant and emphasis on how those discussions develop.
Moving on a few decades and we now live in a world that belongs to political 'wings', primarily right or left with other variable versions of those. We now reach the point where 'newspapers' actually become 'viewspapers' because there are actually more views being expressed than the area news.
We now have an effective political party supporting viewspapers that act as promotional magazines for their nominated (by owners and their editors) political party.
Traditionally, in modern times the Conservative party- often commented on as the business supporting party were on one side of the equation - with the Labour party referred to as the working man's party. on the other side.
As a simple fact of life and reality, the Conservative party received more funding than the Labour party did so became the preferred party by most newspapers at that time - which naturally gave the Conservative party a more sympathetic critique than the Labour Party.
Like all things in life, very few things remain static and by 2000 - 2010 newspaper ownership and the Conservative party became even more 'collegiate'. The biggest shift came from 2011 - under a Conservative government - when a sequence of events, politically staged, resulted in the ability for existing newspaper groups to continue to take control of more 'titles'.
In 2023, a number of non-government groups along with 5 independent Academics collectively came to the conclusion that the, then, enlarged groups with just 3 separate 'owners' between them had more or less around 90% domination of all printed and digital media under their wings.
in 2026, with a new Labour government in place for the last 2+ years now, the largest ever theoretically 'unlinked' group of 3 right wing groups have enjoyed a 'free ride' - unchallenged by the new government, despite being the most damaged 'innocent' party in all this.
On the 17th of March this year, the entire unequal and undemocratic situation changed. The person selected by the right wing media, produced a sequence of events that has turned the whole thing on its head.
Cries of ' The King Is Dead, Long Live The King' are still premature as despite GB2GB's denouncement of that King all that can be heard is - still SILENCE.
The King is still alive, but on a right wing financed Life Support Machine. Farage will continue to ride on his horse towards the Houses of Parliament as the (self) appointed one. But the game is on?
The BBC are on the rack for doing nothing about the reason why they chose to completely ignore the reason why Farage IS on the rack - and if they, and the rest of the pack stick together - as pack animals tend to do - they might just get away with it.
They still have to respond to my formal complaint - but now the public will be made aware of what that response was - SO NOW WE, YOU, THE BBC AND THE REST OF MEDIA WAIT?
