Discrimination is the unfair treatment of employees at workplace based on narrow-mindedness. Employees may not get equal opportunities and rights in an organization. An organization may suffer from different types of discriminations with employees like: age, disability, compensation, genetic information, origin and region, pregnancy, race, religion, retaliation and harassment discrimination Age discrimination: It means to treat unfairly with someone who is less capable or unfavourable due to over age. Law forbids age discrimination during employment, payment, job assignment, promotions and offers etc. For instance, Beck, investment banker at CIBC reported the case of age discrimination in the age of 42 when he was replaced by a young man. Law helps him to protect his rights and Beck won the amount of 75 K Euros
Disability Discrimination: Employees with disability or history of disabilities should not be treated as unfavourable to work unless there are some specific needs. Also disable person should not be harassed as mentioned in Disabilities Act and should be properly treated.
Equal Pay/ Compensation Discrimination: Employees should get the equal amount of compensations and pay for the same work. Discrimination occurs when payment is different among employees assigned on same job. It may occur due to narrow-mindedness on gender capabilities.
Race Discrimination: It means to treat someone unfairly for the difference in race. Discrimination may be due to race, colour, descent national or moral origin or refugee status. Laws help to forbid such discriminations at workplace.
Gender Discrimination: Ones’ gender should not be harassed or unfairly treated in workplace. Equal opportunities are expected for all genders to grow and to learn. Gender cannot be used as the parameter of qualification in any job profile
Region and Origin Discrimination: It is unfair to treat origin or region of employees with their capabilities. Difference in ethics and values of employees should not be treated to evaluate the capabilities of them.
