A Message to Journalists — The Collapse of Original Reporting & the BBC’s Amplification of Pre-Ordered Politics is a death knell for free thinking journalism in the UK and the death of true democracy.*It is in fact, a form of State Control of 'thought', only governed by power-crazy multi-billionaires worldwide*. They originate from anywhere in the world that understands that they can function in any way they choose - because of an unwritten 'law' called 'Freedom Of The Press' - which allows 'them' to print and say things that British citizens cannot say without fear of legal action against them.
WELCOME TO STATE CONTROLLED - EXCLUSIVELY BRITISH - 'DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY'
The traditional craft — go out, find a political story, verify it, challenge it, and tell it regardless of party — has been replaced by a newsroom culture built on copy-and-paste journalism, where political narratives are lifted directly from a shrinking number of national newspapers and repeated across broadcast platforms without fresh investigation.
NEWSPAPERS CREATE RIGHT WING 'NEWS' - BBC PROMOTES IT 24/7 EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR
This seemingly simple natural thing for the BBC to do is in fact the biggest cause of division in the UK as it now amplifies all the non-British narrative to do with race, colour, immigration so dominant in the news today - exploding that division exponentially more than newspapers could ever do.
This collapse in original reporting coincided with a structural shift in the wider media ecosystem. Newspapers withdrew from public circulation reporting after 2020, making it impossible to know how many people actually read the stories that continue to shape national debate. Physical distribution declined sharply, leaving many newsstands half-empty. Yet despite this invisibility, Multi-Billionaire owned newspaper editorial lines still dominate political coverage — not through print, but through the BBC 24 hours a day.
The BBC’s political output surged dramatically during the same period. Annual reports show a 40–50% increase in political content, with 40k–43k political articles per year, 1,700–1,800 hours of political programming, and unprecedented volumes of political push alerts and short-form clips. But this surge did not reflect a renaissance in investigative journalism. It reflected a growing reliance on pre-framed narratives originating from newspapers whose reach is now opaque. The BBC amplified these narratives across TV, radio, online and social platforms, often without independent verification or alternative framing.
For journalists, this should be a wake-up call. When the BBC — the country’s most influential broadcaster — amplifies stories that originate from newspapers without confirming their relevance, representativeness or factual grounding, it effectively outsources agenda-setting to unmeasured sources. Journalism becomes replication. The public sees the BBC reporting a story; journalists know the BBC is repeating a story. The distinction matters. Journalism is supposed to interrogate power, not inherit its talking points.
Want non right wing political news and views, good luck finding it, GB2GB has spent the last 9 months exposing right wing media, and especially the BBC - it just never gets found in national media platforms.
