Toronto, Canada: Your Money Seniors is a national financial literacy program designed to warn seniors about the risks associated with financial fraud and how they can be affected by it. The Canadian Bankers Association (CBA) will send a representative to talk about the ins and outs of financial fraud and also why it is imperative for seniors to be educated on various topics associated with it. “The representative will define financial fraud, why and how seniors may be at risk, how to recognize it and protect themselves against it. It is vital for seniors to be able to protect themselves against financial fraud, especially those living in retirement homes and assisted living facilities as they are the easiest targets”, says Bill Singh, owner of River Road Retirement Residence.
The seminar will be offered in English and French and is free of charge to seniors across the country. It has been modelled on CBA’s extremely successful ‘Your Money Students’ program and is presented by bankers volunteering their expertise and time.
