Well, there is one interesting example: I have a training class with a father who was my student and finished aviation technical School Petar Drapsin (my first employment between 1982 and 1985) and his son, who finished the same school in 2015 (EASA 147 approved). The father was with me in Abidjan, Ivory Coast where I was Chief of the base with 2 aircrafts B 737-300 classic in 2009. He was a base B1 inspector with run-up authorization. We spent a few nights without sleeping and solving problems on airplanes. His son has the perspective to be a good B1 engineer. Two generations in one family, and I taught each one of them. I am very proud of this.
4. And what challenges have you faced along the way?
Along the way, there were many challenges and especially in Africa. Sometimes it was very dangerous to work there. Also, the degree of responsibility can be sometimes very big. Because of existing knowledge and training plus experience, there is a right way to pass this kind of situation without any conservancy. But when I look ahead, I am very satisfied. I was, and still, am a part of a huge army of people who care about safety and security. Fly, fly our metal bird.
5. Besides Aviation, what other areas pique your interest?
I am now a Professor of Aviation subject at the Aviation College of Applied Studies. Also, I finished my Master’s Thesis in 2016: Determination of fatigue life friction welded joint alloy AL2024, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, Serbia. And also, I read a lot of doctorates about cracks in Aluminum alloy.
Many times, I couch myself on how to make the design of hypersonic rockets with RAMJET.
6. Lastly, what will you advise people who dream of a career in aviation?
First of all, it is a very nice and interesting job. My opinion is that high school is the best time to start learning about aviation. And after that, only learning and learning. When you start to work you will feel something like a butterfly in your stomach, excited for working on big metal birds where only the sky is the limit. The company rewards you for sure so you will be happy in a material sense as in private. Preclusion and learning must be your objective. Try to your dreams be reality. I know that mine are.
