Miami - Florida Haiti Diaspora
In the light of recent events in Haiti this weekend that resulted with the liberation of Woody Etheart and Wilner Nelfort who were in the custody of the Haiti State judicial apparatus, the Haitian -American Grassroots Coalition is expressing deep concerns on the violation of the Rule Of Law, a guiding principle for moderns democracies.
Mr. Etheart and Mr. Nelfort are known criminals that have perpetrated a series of violent crimes against the Haitian society such as alleged participation in kidnapping, drug trafficking, assassination and the creation of the gang Galil that unleash violence at will in the country.
The actions taken by Judge Lamare Belizaire to free these alleged criminals sent shock waves in the Diaspora Communities. The Haitian diaspora wishes that the Haitian authorities take swift actions to enable Haiti to abide and respect for the rule of law without any interference from the highest level of the echelon.
.
In addition, HAGC will provide an update on its efforts with regional governments harboring Haitian migrants and refugees in their territory. At the recent VII Summit of the Americas, HAGC presented a resolution condemning the State or group of States that have put in place policies to render stateless certain group of Haitian Nationals found in their territory. We are referring to the June deadline referred to by the Dominican Republic presidential decree and the September deadline referred to by the Government of the Bahamas, specifically the edict of the Foreign and Immigration Minister Fred Mitchel who will barre school aged children without passport or immigration papers from attending school.
