Miami-FloridaJanuary 12, 2010 - January 12, 2015, this is five years since the devastation of the Capital City of Port-au-Prince, Haiti sending more than 300,000 to their sudedn death as a result of a 7.7 on the Richter scale earhtquake. It was as if mother nature turned mad and wanted to punish the whole population, regardless they were good or bad, black or white, men or or womem, peasants or urbanites, locals or foreigners.
The Haiti Quake in 2010 presented a huge opportunity for Haiti to rebuild the town of Port-au-Prince and inspire a wholegeneration to build a better tomorrow. Having attracted the world attention as a nation filled with courage et de resilience in its most difficult moments, the international community in Maech 2010 mobilized its resources to respond to the Haiti challenges. The Though the good offices of the United Nations, Both President Bill Clinton and his wife persuaded many to to pledge international assistance to Haiti to the tune of 10 billions dollars for the Haiti Recontruction program. The Obama Administration, in two occasions, had disparched Vice President Biden to Little Haiti to consult with the Haitian-American Leadership for updates. But from the outsets, obervers could notice the poltics of the Administration in term of including all sectors of the diaspora in the dialogue. The Congressional leaders after much complaints by their Haitiaqn constituents quckly determined that the Obama Administration was taken then Haitian-Americans for a ride since it became impossible for the U.S Government to give accurate reports to Haitian-American Stakeholders asking questions on the whereabouts of the Haiti Reconstruction Funds.
In the meantime, President Clinton who was selected Chairman of the CIRH Committee was spending the U.S funds as a drunken sailor through handshakes with the Esttrella Corporation in Dominican Republic.
Despite the declarations of the of the Haitian Global Diaspora to places some resolutions at OAS Haitian Diaspora Forum that would secure a larger participation of the diaspora members in the CIRH Committee was to no avail when the State Department hijacked the forum by selecting representatives without a real mandate from the diaspora.
The grandiloquent plan to rebuild Port-au-Prince has been placed to the greek calendars. Upon the election of President Michel Martelly, the CIRH Committee that was placed in charge for the Haiti Reconstruction program was quietly disbanded and replaced by another entity from the Haitian Government.
The earthquake had transformed Haiti into a huge laboratory for the international to conduct its racketeering. In thoat period, Jean-Robert Lafortune whop chairs the Haitian-American Grassroots Coalition explained that Haiti had became the new El Dorado whereby anyone willing to make a quik buck can do so easly with minimum risk. The Haitian Politician Mrs. Mirland Manigat had stated in a Miami Meeting during her campaign tyhat thoysands and thousands of people who were the tents in 2010 may have to expect that they will be living under the tents five to 10 years from now.
Haiti has missed a golden opportunity to do right by its population who has been joked around by so many politicians over and over again.
