For more than a decade, the UK has faced repeated warnings about media concentration. 5 Independent reports plus 4 academics all coming to the conclusion that "These findings were described as “dangerous levels of concentrated ownership” in multiple public reports". See full report Click Here These warnings were not acted upon by successive governments, and Parliament has not held an open debate on the issue for over ten years - of which citizens of the UK should now note and challenge.
Why - Because this is not democratic - and this is not Russia. Russia, China, Iraq, North Korea have virtually 100% state control on their countries media, the UK, unique in the rest of the world, has 90% Multi-Billionaire control.
It has to be said that when Sir Keir Starmer, as the new Labour Prime Minister in 2024, he would also have been made aware of this injustice to the British citizens and the security of the UK and its cohesion.
It is certainly true to say that since 2024, the quality and morality of political discourse in the UK has already deteriorated dramatically as a result of the resultant 90% 'brainwashing' effect of a one-sided narrative the public has had to endure from this ill-fated Multi-Billionaire funded and privileged example of the power of the 'Freedom of Press' going right back to the Leveson Enquiry in 2011 and onwards.
A democracy cannot function when the public receives political information through a narrow commercial filter. Competition rules apply to every major industry except the one that shapes public understanding. That silence must end and it is now up to the public to end it..
All of GB2GB's press releases have been addressing these issues for almost 6 months on social media and press releases - but of course the last group that would ever repeat the contents would naturally be the media itself - as they say "Turkeys never vote for Christmas"
Only one British citizen — an 80-year-old retired gardener - out of an adult population of around 55 million in the UK is raising this issue in the public interest. Not a Billionaire, Not a Political Party - in fact he has never ever voted in his life but does not appreciate where this country is going and as he says - "someone has to do it". Completely unfunded (apart from his state pension) and unpaid - and unrepentant.

SUBJECT: Request for a Parliamentary Debate on Media Concentration
MESSAGE: Dear [MP Name],
I am writing as a constituent to ask you to support an open, cross-party parliamentary debate on media concentration in the UK.
The country has experienced three major failures over the past decade: • The warnings raised by the Leveson Inquiry in 2012 • The cancellation of Leveson Part 2 before it could examine deeper issues • The ignored warnings from 2023 onward about extreme media ownership concentration
A healthy democracy requires a diverse and accountable media landscape, and Parliament has not debated this openly for more than a decade.
I am asking you, as my elected representative, to support a parliamentary debate on this matter in the national interest.
Yours sincerely, [Your Name] [Your Postcode]
