MIAMI-FLORIDA Four years ago on this day, the it was like if Lucifer had open his doors of hell and unleash death on the Island of Haiti. In the middle of this disaster, everyone was short of words to describe this phenomenon. Some Haitians describe this disaster as the end of the time that is featured in the Apocalyps, for some other personalities like the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez laid the fault at the United States Pentagon in an experiment of Mad Scientists gone wrong but some others, it was God's will at work. After the assessment, everyone realized that this event by its sheer number of victims 300,000 fatalities and 3,000,000 people living under the tents was not a regular disaster but a mega disaster called in the Americas the BIG ONE.
America's Intervention
The Obama Administration quickly enters the scene and take over the strategic ports of entry of the country to establish a cordon of security. The Haitian President Rene Garcia Preval, a few days later, was spotted at the Toussaint Louverture Airport and stated to journalists: My Palace has collapsed, behaving like an homeless person with no sense of direction and logic. Soon everyone realized that he and his team were not up to the challenges that laid ahead. The Obama Camp very quickly outreached to the Haitian Community that was embattled with previous natural and man made disasters in previous years were ready to listen to the White House Plan. Vice-President Biden was dispatched twice in Little Haiti, January 2010 and March 2010 bring a bag of hope centered on build back better and Haitian s should be in the driver seat to rebuild their homeland. It was clear that the Haitian President was never in control and the International Community exploits this lack of leadership as a way to propel themselves in the driver seat instead.
The Haitian Diaspora, from afar, organized itself to lend a hand to the survivors and entered Haiti's theater with the desire to do good. Haitian Leaders in Miami took the lead to convene the Organization of American States (OAS) to convene a joint OAS and US Diaspora Forum aimed at the Haiti Reconstruction Plan. The inability of the Haitian Diaspora to coordinate its action comprehensively sent bad vibrations to the OAS and the Canadian Foreign Minister took the opportunity to offer Canada to host the OAS Haitian Diaspora Forum in Montreal Quebec. The Haitian-American Grassroots Coalition (HAGC) Chairman went on the offensive to accuse the Canadian Government of hijacking an activity put in place by a civil society in the OAS for its own advantage and profit. The Country of Canada was committing an injustice towards Haitians in the USA that have taken this forum initiative to contribute to the Haiti Reconstruction process. Although we do respect them in advancing progress in Haiti, but their action is wrong in attempting to hold the forum. Myself will not attend if the forum is held in Canada, stated Jean-Robert Lafortune, leader of the Haitian-American Grassroots Coalition to a reporter from the Associated Press Acompromise was reached and the OAS Haitian Diaspora Forum was held in Washington DC March 21 to March 2132010 to March 23, 2010. This forum served as preliminary planning tothe United Nations Donors Conference held in Marc 31, 2010 under the leadership of President Bill Clinton and U.S Secretary of State Hilary Clinton. Mr.Clinton was named by Ban Ki Moon at the U.N.
